We had a long night with Saige, especially Clint. She tends to want him when she is sick. We went up to check her at 11 pm last night and her fever was 104.8. We got her tylenol and tried to gently cool her off with a wet washcloth. We can't cool her off too fast or she could have a seizure. Clint laid with her in her bed then ended up bringing her to our bed. Her fever came down to 97.7 by 3 am. This morning, we took her to Pratt so Dr. Fowler could check her out. She did a great job letting him look in her ears and mouth. She has no signs of any problems. They also did a urine analysis which showed some bacteria so they will run a culture and in 3 days we will know what that grows. For now, we started her on amoxicillin to hopefully kill any infections she might have. We normally have to give her a much stronger antibiotic to cover the infections, but hopefully this will be enough to cover whatever she has. We got home around 2 pm. She had a fever most of the day that was between 102 and 104. We gave her ibuprofen this evening that really knocked the fever down better. We hardly ever give her ibuprofen since it's not good for people with kidney disease. Both of the sets of grandparents were busy today, so we asked Dian Roetker to come up and stay with the other 3 kids. They love her and she did a great job spoiling them while we were gone.
At bedtime tonight Sloan told me, "When I grow up I want to be a mommy like you and cook food that my kids don't like!" She said it very sweet and kind and didn't mean it mean. I thought it was cute and it made me laugh. Sloan used to be such a great eater, but it seems like her and Jett complain about something at almost every single meal.
