It was about 100 degrees today and very windy. There were grass fires in our county and surrounding counties (nothing near our land). It is extremely dry here. We have had less than 2 inches of rain since we drilled our wheat last fall. All the wheat in our area, including ours, looks very bad. God says to praise Him in all things (1 Thessalonians 5:18) so I'm thankful that God is withholding the rain for whatever reason He pleases. I've always liked the song 'Gratitude' by Nicole Nordeman. This is the first verse and chorus:
Send some
rain, would You send some rain?
'Cause the earth is dry and needs to drink again
And the sun is high and we are sinking in the shade
Would You send a cloud, thunder long and loud?
Let the sky grow black and send some mercy down
Surely You can see that we are thirsty and afraid
But maybe not, not today
Maybe You'll provide in other ways
And if that's the case . . .
We'll
give thanks to You
With gratitude
For lessons learned in how to thirst for You
How to bless the very sun that warms our face
If You never send us rain
